Voice

Sound quality is important to Clarinet. Clarinet spent many years not offering a voice service because we felt that a cheap voice service that sounds cheap is not good value. Drop outs, static and other artifacts that spoil the sound are neither desirable nor acceptable. Clarinet works with its suppliers to ensure that phone calls on our services sound clear and clean on both sides of the conversation.

Not all voice is the same:

  • Voice over DSL: a specially provisioned Symmetric DSL connection of the highest available quality is connected to equipment that provides phone lines and optionally Internet. Your voice quality is guaranteed by the equipment.
  • Managed Voice Over IP: Equipment in your premises and at the exchange convey your voice. Internet traffic is not allowed to interfere with the call quality. Your voice quality is guaranteed by the equipment.
  • Rebilling: ordinary phone lines, but billed at Clarinet Rates - it is an ordinary phone.
  • VOIP: Voice Over IP has been greatly hyped, but simply putting Voice Over the Internet is a risky business as there is nothing to ensure that the voice gets priority over other Internet traffic
Clarinet only offers services that we feel will have acceptable performance for our customers. Naturally, you can use your own VOIP provider over a Clarinet connection and we will endeavour to provide a sufficient service, but to be sure use a Clarinet Internet Solutions branded service.
