Maurice Castro

Maurice Castro is an accomplished software developer and researcher.

Danny and Maurice co-founded HiLink Communications in 1994 making its successor Clarinet Internet Solutions one of the oldest Australian ISPs.

While Danny turned his attentions to the full time operations of the business, Maurice, spent 8 years working for RMIT University in the Software Engineering Research Centre (SERC) and the Department of Computer Science as both a lecturer and a researcher. While at RMIT he worked on:

  • Software Engineering
  • Operating Systems
  • Computer Architecture
  • Applications of Cryptography
and in his spare time administered the SERC network. After the closure of SERC, Maurice completed an MBA at Melbourne Business School, and worked for both the Department of Mathematics and the Faculty of Business at RMIT.

Maurice returned to Clarinet, full time, in January 2005.

Education

Maurice holds:

  • Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School
  • Doctor of Philosophy from Monash University for his thesis: The Walnut Kernel: A Password-Capability Based Operating System
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Monash University in Computer Science

Outside Interests

Maurice and his wife Tania own and ride dressage horses.
